Silent Spring
Silent Spring
Classic Health Books
What if spring time came and there were no sounds of birds singing in the morning?
This question was posed by a biologist 47 years ago, September 1962, in a book called: Silent Spring. The author was a woman named Rachel Carson.
If you want a clearer understanding of why America is sick and dying, you need to read the Book: Silent Spring by Rachel Carson. It is available at most Libraries, and if your local library doesn't have it they can obtain it from another library through a program called Inter-Library Loan.

It is understood, that if some one states that something will happen in the future, and it comes to past exactly as they said, they are considered a Prophet. Rachel Carson was a prophet. Over the years of my health studies I have seen comments made, both favorable and detracting about Rachel Carson and her book, Silent Spring. I had not yet read the book, so I recently decided to read it.
The childhood admonition to consider the source when evaluating any criticism surely applies when judging Silent Spring.
Among those leading the fight, I consider it at the present time to be one step away from a full scale bloody war, for safe healthy food, Silent Spring is thought of as prophetic.
Among those on the other side who believe in so called "science" as the answer to all issues Silent Spring is an extremist, inaccurate fairy tale and or blasphemy against the "God" of again, so called "science". It is amazing how things come into sharp focus once a person realizes how a person's world view determines the outcome of all their actions.
Much of United States food production has fallen under the control of people who believe that Charles Darwin was accurate in his theory; that no God or Intelligent designer created the Earth and its incredible ecological system, including the plants and animals that mankind uses as it's food supply. The result is a present and still greater looming catastrophe in food production and supply.
The misuse of pesticides and Genetically modifying plants through the splicing of animal and plant DNA are two results of the flawed world view of Darwinism; a world without a Creator.
Common sense would tell a true scientific mind that all things in the world are in relationship with one another and that the change in one will affect many other things.
An example would be the aerial pesticide spraying program of tens of thousands of square miles of the central Midwest United States from the 1950's into the early part of 1960's to "kill" or totally eliminate the Japanese beetle. Rachel Carson details the effects of the program in the book Silent Spring. The aerial spraying covered land and water areas in the states of Michigan, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana and Missouri with pellets of the deadly neurotoxin aldrin The planes dropped aldrin pellets over towns, lakes, rivers, food crop areas, orchards, pastures, home lawns, gardens and school yards. The result was the rapid death of almost every living thing in the area sprayed except for large animals and mankind. Birds, dogs, cats, thousands of variety of insects; both beneficial and so called "harmful" insects, all died in massive quantities in the areas sprayed. Bird baths were surrounded by dead and dying birds, flocks of birds were found dead in fields and dogs that lapped water from street depressions after a rain following the spraying died within hours. These were not isolated incidents, but were found to have happened where ever and whenever the spraying was done. State and local Health agencies, veterinarians, Bird watching clubs, Garden clubs, doctors, farmers, housewife's, ranchers ALL reported massive tragic poisonings almost within hours after the spray airplanes flew overhead.
All the while, in response citizen complaints the "Government" officials deemed the application of the poison safe for humans!
This spraying program continued year after year in spite of massive opposition from a large proportion of citizens who had witnessed the carnage.
The result of all the years of the spraying was that it did not stop the spread of the Japanese beetle!
I wonder if any data studies have been done correlating the amount of Parkinson, Cancer and degenerative diseases within the areas that were sprayed all those years as opposed to areas that were not sprayed.
Do you ever wonder why cancer is now so wide spread in America?

Food Poisoning and Your Health
Long Term Effects of Food PoisoningPicture:Separate cutting boards for meats and vegetables is a safe food practice.
One of the greatest benefits from an Alkaline Lifestyle is the optimizing and balancing of all areas of your body. No where is that more critical then in your intestinal flora or as it is also called, your gut bacteria.
When you eat food that is contaminated with harmful bacteria the body has a complex and complete mechanism to keep the bacteria from altering your health state. The variety of the intestinal flora that your body manifests when you eat a basic raw food diet is better at dealing with harmful bacteria then the gut bacteria that results from eating a S.A.D. diet of dead foods.
A growing awareness of gut bacteria is sweeping
I believe that science will prove that all genes are the expression of DNA, and that the genes adapt to the existing environment.
It is known that the Gut bacterium of people varies according to the foods that they eat and the environment they live in. Some one eating and living in a tropical environment will have different variety of gut bacteria then a person living in far north latitudes. Anyone who has lived in one area and visits another can attest to having some intestinal discomfort after eating local foods. Yet some people, eating the identical foods that distress others, will have no or little distress.
Why is that?
The answer lies in the variety and type of gut bacteria based on that person eating a properly nutriented food supply and their overall health.
Food poisoning in the
Most of the illnesses are from contaminated meats and prepared foods.
Raw foods are also a source of illnesses and in raw food cases it almost always is the result of improper food preparation and or the food preparers’ health and hygiene.
If you have ever wondered why most foods we have consumed have been cooked, it was mainly for the issue of food safety, and not taste. As anyone who has converted to a raw food diet can generally attest, raw food tastes fuller and richer than cooked foods. If cooked foods seem to taste better it is only due to the use of salt and spices, the salt being required in many cases to give the cooked food any taste at all. Dead food burdens the digestive system of those who eat it and the digestive system is not ready to handle any type of live bacteria, good or bad. Any one who has converted from the SAD diet to live foods has experienced the flatulence that is both discomforting and some times embarrassing. Yet after a while, with the continued eating of just raw foods, the flatulence diminishes to a very low level.
This is proof that the gut flora will adapt to what ever food you give it to digest.
The question for everyone is what is the best food to eat for health, fitness and longevity? My belief based on all my research is live foods or also called raw foods.
Live foods promote gut bacteria that is vigorous and adapted to challenge the various types of live harmful bacteria.
If you ever have a case of food poisoning take it very seriously. There is research that shows that, for most Americans food poisoning has life long health affects.

Vitamin D and the Winter
An ancient Greek history writer once commented on a battle between the Persians and Egyptians that occurred thousands of years ago in the deserts of the Did the Greek writer understand about Sunlight and Vitamin D?
Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that is formed by the human body when skin is exposed to the sun's ultraviolet rays.
It is now December 22, 2007 and across much of
In northern cities such as
Due to the Lifestyle habits of many modern Americans, even when it is warm enough to be outside getting their required daily dose of Vitamin D from the sun, they don’t.
It has been estimated that most Americans spend over 90% of their time indoors!!!
One of the consequences of these lifestyle habits, is that over 50% of adults over age 50 in the
· 30% of whites,
· 42% of Hispanics and
· 84% of African-Americans had vitamin D deficiency.
There are two major types of vitamin D:
- Vitamin D3, also called cholecalciferol, is the type made in the body in response to sun exposure and found in certain foods.
- Vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol) is the form most used in supplements. It's the one used to fortify milk and other foods.
For your body to use both types of vitamin D, it must first be converted in the liver and kidneys to the active form, 1,25 dihydroxyvitamin D.
Here are the recommendations for vitamin D intake from the
- Birth to 50 years -- 200 IU (5 mcg)
- Between 51 and 70 years -- 400 IU (10 mcg)
- Over 71 years -- 600 IU (15 mcg)
- Pregnant and nursing women -- 200 IU (5 mcg)
The safe upper limit of vitamin D is:
· 2,000 IU (50 mcg) for men and women.
· 1,000 IU (25 mcg). For infants up to 12 months of age.
In a recent study, there was found a 7% reduction in deaths when the average Vitamin D intake was about 500 IU per day instead of the currently recommended 200 IU.
Balance the above recommendations against this:
Exposure of most of the body surface to direct sunlight for more than an hour will enable a healthy human body to generate blood serum levels of Vitamin D that would require thousands of IU’s of Vitamin D!!
Current studies have found that vitamin D insufficiency is widespread in the general
- Seasonal affective disorder
- Depression
- Osteoporosis
- Cancer
- Diabetes
- Polycystic ovary disease
- Gum disease
- Psoriasis
Seasonal affective disorder, or that cooped up feeling, that many people experience at the onset of Fall and Winter is a physiological challenge that responds well to:
- Full Spectrum Lighting inside the home and office
- And Vitamin D supplementation
When spring does come to those who live in the cold north, get out into the Sun more often, preferably to breathe fresh air, exercise and to get a free dose of Vitamin D.
